Bible Voice Broadcasting exists to reach the nations for Christ,using shortwave radio and the internet as its media platform, and inthe languages of the nations. This worthy goal is pursued with the helpof international partnerships with Christian organizations andindividuals who have similar commitment. One such radio partner is anindigenous Indian Trust, operated as a humanitarian ministry to thedisadvantaged of Kolkata, India.
In addition to Bible Voice India’s encouraging daily radiobroadcasts to Bengali speaking people of Asia, over 800 children ofKolkata are ministered to each week, in home settings and with theirparents and guardians, all receiving humanitarian and educational helpwherever possible.
Various spiritual, physical and emotional needs are met each day,with a model in view, where self-empowerment is the result. The dreamis that East Indians might enjoy the freedom that education andsubsequent empowerment affords. As a result of this conviction, BibleVoice seeks support for unique micro-business opportunities for adults,and educational support for the many street children our partner meetseach week. PEDDLE RICKSHAW
With an ever-expanding population, India’s 1.2 billion people relyon various means of transportation. For many, the affordable PeddleRickshaw is the most affordable, and this in turn creates employmentopportunities for any who can afford the $300.00 USD needed to purchasethe vehicle, thereby creating a small taxi business.
Bible Voice seeks funding for such business opportunities so aselected candidate might receive this employment vehicle on aninterest-free loan basis. When the loan is re-paid, the money isrecycled into the purchase of another Peddle Rickshaw for anotherunemployed and therefore very needy family. The same funds are recycledconsistently.

Bible Voice’s partner continues to meet hard working people ofKolkata who have been disadvantaged by circumstances beyond theircontrol, resulting in a complete loss of income possibilities. One suchperson was Pratima, who could neither hear nor speak, and forced tolive in isolation due to the family’s extreme poverty. Bible Voicesought for and received help from Canadian friends who fully funded the$150.00 USD required to purchase a sewing machine for this woman. Sheis now self-employed and contributing to family income for the firsttime.

PURCHASE A FLOOR
Bible Voice’s partner first began to share Bible stories and smallgifts of food with 4 street children of Kolkata’s Rickshaw-pullers’district in his small home. His soft demeanor and caring heart quicklybecame known among the disadvantaged children of Kolkata’s poorest. Aschildren continued to bring their friends to hear a kind word fromtheir new friend, it was not long before his small 700 square-foot homewas crowded with small visitors each week. The demand for his time hasgrown so fast that within 2 years, he now ministers to over 800children in various locations and with many of their parents andguardians, all seeking comfort and assistance of various kinds.Oftentimes, our partner and his wife find children simply waiting to“come in” for a time of rest-many have not eaten since the day beforewhen they visited his home!
Our dream is that “none should perish” and for this reason, weprovide nourishing snacks and spiritual teaching wherever possible. During his visitation among Kolkata’s streets our partner is oftenconfronted by individuals who are rejected or isolated by illness. Onesuch man was suddenly paralyzed at the age of 50. Unemployed and unableto travel without assistance, he soon became confined to a small roomin his slum shack, just waiting…Indian streets are difficult for thoseisolated by illness.Upon discovering this man, our partner sought for the $200.00 USDnecessary to purchase a wheelchair for this man. Canadian friendsrallied behind the need and soon this man was presented with awheelchair, once again allowing him the sense of community thatmobility affords.
