Global Radio Outreach
The vision for the work of Global Radio Outreach began during World War 2 when a young Australian named Claude D’Evelynes served with the Allies in New Guinea. At that time, the Lord impressed him with a three-pronged vision:
• Create a radio communications support for missionaries serving there
• Broadcast the Gospel to New Guineans
• Expand the radio broadcast to West Irian-part of Indonesia
The first two parts of this vision were accomplished under Claude with the arrival of the Michael Bond family to Papua, New Guinea in 1984. But the third facet did not take shape until 1991, when the Bond family felt the call of God to leave New Guinea and expand the broadcast work. This new expanded focus was on locating and airing select programs across the world, starting with the Middle East, under the banner of Global Radio Outreach (GRO).
Today, GRO prepares and supports the airing of Arabic programming to the Middle East, Farsi programming to Iran and Urdu programming to Pakistan and North India, all on the Bible Voice Broadcasting Network. GRO also airs a daily Arabic program into the Seattle WA area. GRO continues to seek effective programming and partner support for them, so the GRO audience might be expanded to Egypt, North Africa, Indonesia, India and China.
